Shortly after I started quilting several years ago, I started keeping a quilt journal. Not only is it a wonderful way to keep a record of every quilt I have made, but it is a fun way to see how far I have come as a quilter! I would highly recommend keeping a journal for anyone who quilts or sews.

Christmas Card Holder Quilt
Do you have a creative way to display Christmas cards? I used to collect them all in an adorable little sled I had until I made this Christmas-themed wall hanging. It is made with a holiday panel that is bordered on each side by 7 pockets.

Comma Zen Strip Quilt Tutorial
In my last post, I shared some fabric I had found and fell in love with (Comma Fabric by Zen Chic). I also shared two brick block quilt tops I made using the fabric. If you read through this post, you might remember that I only used 25 of the 40 fat quarters that came in the bundle. My daughter had fallen in love with a strip quilt she saw on Pinterest so I decided to try making a similar one for her.
While I had plenty of fat quarters left to make this Comma Zen strip quilt, and that was my original plan, I actually made this quilt mainly using scraps from brick quilt tops. I did, however, cut a few strips from each of the leftover fat quarters, but I had enough fabric left for even one more quilt top.

22 Slipper Patterns
I chose the topic of slippers for this round-up simply because it has been so darn cold where I live. When I say cold, I don’t mean just a few days, it has been well over a month that our temperatures have been below average. In fact, we had a period of more than 2 weeks where our temperatures rarely made it above 0 F.

Mason Jar Wall Hanging Quilt
I know I have skipped around a little bit, but here is my 4th quilt. It is a small wall hanging (approximately 21″ x 24″) made to look like a shelf of mason jars. The pattern I used for the blocks is similar to this tall jar quilt block shared by Janet.
As you can tell by looking at the picture, I made 8 jars out of 8 different floral fabrics. I made a label for each jar by printing an ingredient name (the ingredients that the recipe calls for) on printable fabric. I made the center square to look like a recipe card and on it I printed out a “Recipe for a Happy Day”.

A Forest of Quilts Deer Tablecloth (turned bed quilt)
I started this quilt (my 24th) at the Camp Lebanon fall quilt retreat in 2004 and finally got it quilted and bound in February 2005. I actually combined together a few different ideas presented in the book, A Forest of Quilts: Designs for Those Who Love the Outdoors by Terrie Kralik.

Flying Home Quilt
After I made my first quilt, I was hooked. Piecing and quilting was not as difficult as I thought it would be. I then went on a quest for a pattern to make for my second quilt. That is when I ran across a book titled More Quick Rotary Cutter Quilts (For the Love of Quilting) (affiliate link – this book is out of print but you may be able to find it at the link provided).
I bought it because so many of the fun quilts in this book appealed to me. I was still a newbie to quilting so I had no idea that many of the quilts in this book are for a more experienced quilter. When I bought the book, I figured they would be easy quilts because they are labeled as “Quick”… Well, you know what happens when you assume!

Simple Rail Fence – My First Quilt
I figured since I am giving Hidden Treasure Crafts a new beginning, I would start talking about my quilts from the beginning. This is the first quilt I made (in 2002).
Considering I am now designing my own quilt patterns, I can’t believe I was so nervous to make this simple rail fence quilt. In my defense, as far as I am concerned, I think most finished quilts look anything but simple. I think that is one of the things I now love about quilting — how you can get such complex looking designs usually by making simple, straight stitched and cuts.
